Malaysia Cruise Ports Guide

Port Klang (For Kuala Lumpur), Malaysia

Malaysia is one of the most popular countries for those cruising southeast Asia to visit thanks to its wide range of cruise ports, both on the mainland and on tis islands and also due to its location on both the Malacca Strait and the South China Sea.

That puts the country on numerous itineraries sailing around the region to nearby countries such as Thailand, Vietnam and Indonesia, whilst it is also close to the city state of Singapore, one of the Asia’s leading turnaround ports.

The country offers lots of variety in all aspects of a cruise holiday including a wide range of ports of call, diversity of ports including huge metropolises, historic towns, remote villages and holiday resorts and there are also plenty of options for lines and ships visiting Malaysia.

Down the years, the country has been under the control of numerous colonial powers that have left their mark and that has made each region of the country different to the next but thankfully for those visiting in the modern era, the independent Malaysia has kept alive its own culture making it a terrific place to visit.

There are plenty of attractions awaiting visitors including a cable car and the tree top sky bridge.

Although many may not know the city of Klang you will the destination most will head for as the port acts as a gateway to the Malaysian capital city of Kuala Lumpur.

KL is one of the worlds biggest cities, is full of attractions and is just one of those places where there is something for everybody.

Despite been around 1-2 hour away from the port depending on traffic, it is well worth visiting as to be honest, there is little in Klang itself for visitors.

It does offer an impressive entry as you sail down a channel where one side in green rainforest and the other is one of the biggest container ports in the world.
