Scandinavia Cruise Holidays
The region of Scandinavia in Northern Europe is a great place for those who love a laid back pace of life, fantastic modern cities, stunning scenery, and lots of nature whilst on a cruise holiday but one of the best aspects of visiting the region is that so much of it is easily accessible via a cruse holiday with the regions fjords, capital cities and popular tourist spots all on offer on a cruise holiday.
If you were to think of what Scandinavia is and where it is located, most of us will think that we know but it is also a case of, if you ask 100 people, you will likely get 100 different answers and that is because the actual definition of Scandinavia is very rigid and refers to different parts of northern Europe depending on where you live and even what language you speak.
In the English speaking world, Scandinavia usually refers to the countries of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, or to the Scandinavian Peninsula which also takes in parts of Russia and Finland.
Some people consider the Aland Islands, the Faroe Islands, Finland, and Iceland to be part of Scandinavia whilst to many other people the region also takes in what is known in the region as the Nordic Countries of Svalbard, Jan Mayen, Greenland.
No matter what countries you include in a definition of Scandinavia, there are a number of similarities between all of the countries, including strong historical, linguistic and cultural links to each other, and they all have the Nordic Cross on their flags but from our point of view, they are all great destinations for a cruise holiday and they all can be reached either directly or via a Fly Cruise from the United Kingdom.
