Edinburgh Cruise Ports

The city of Edinburgh is one of the most popular destinations for tourists visiting the UK so it is no surprise that there is a huge range of cruise lines that call into Edinburgh but unfortunately due to a lack of facilities, the majority of large cruise ships drop anchor and moor in the Firth of Forth or out to sea. Whilst that does mean that for such a popular destination there is a limited amount of cruise lines operating out of Edinburgh and of course therefore only a limited choice of destinations.
Cruise Lines With only small to medium sized cruise ships starting cruises from Edinburgh, there is therefore only a small range of cruise lines offering cruises from Edinburgh.

Popular Edinburgh Cruise Ports

There are now a number of cruise ports offering holidays from Edinburgh but there are a number that still stand out as the key Edinburgh ports. There are currently 2 main cruise ports offering cruise holiday from Edinburgh with the port of Leith been the main cruise port and offering the biggest choice of cruises from Edinburgh. Rosyth is a smaller port just outside of Edinburgh offering a few cruises a year. Destinations With only smaller ships offering cruise holidays from Edinburgh, the destinations on offer are limited to mostly nearby destinations including Northern Europe, the Norwegian Fjords, the Baltics and cruises around the British isles. Parking Both port Leith and port Rosyth offer long stay car parking. Transport Edinburgh airport is just a short taxi ride from all of Edinburgh’s main ports whilst the city’s main train station is close to Leith and the nearby Inverkeithing train station is close to port Forsyth.
