It also hosts one of Europe’s biggest and busiest cruise ports, one of Europe’s biggest and busiest ferry ports and has one of the world’s most popular tourist destinations in the city of London.
With all of the in mind, it will be no surprise that there are a number of cruise lines based in Britain, but which are the top 10 British cruise lines?
That is just what I look to answer in list which is based on how many ships the line base in the UK, where the line is headquartered, the options they offer Brits for holidays abroad and my personnel thoughts on the line.
Our Top 10 British Cruise Lines

P&O Cruises
P&O Cruises are probably the first line that comes to mind when you think about a British cruise line as whilst they owned by the Carnival Corporation, incorporated in Panama, Carnival PLC is headquartered in Southampton.
The line, who are famed for having a giant British flag on their ships, also have cruise ships based out of their homeport of Southampton all year around, they have the biggest fleet of ships of all British lines, and they also have the biggest British cruise ship.
The line also based some ships abroad, offering fly cruise opportunities in places such as the Eastern Med and the Caribbean.
With all of those points, they are the only line that could top a list such as this one.

Cunard Line
The Cunard Line are operated by Carnival PLC, the UK arm of the giant corporation that are one of the most historic cruise lines in the world.
Started in 1839 by Samual Cunard as a transatlantic steamship mail company, the line is still famed for their transatlantic routes, where they operate the last remaining liner.
Based out of Southampton, they also offer a range of regular cruise holiday to destinations such as the Med and Norway all year around, with a number of ships based in the UK.

Marella Cruises
Marella do things differently when it comes to been a UK cruise lines as they don’t actually offer cruises from these shores.
What they do offer is the expertise of two giants of their industry to bring fully inclusive getaways where you check your bags in at a local airport across the UK and then you meet them once onboard.
Marella is a 50/50 partnership between Tui and Royal Caribbean, with Tui offering their package holiday expertise, planes, hotels and transfers buses whilst Royal Caribbean offer some of their former ships and cruising expertise.

Saga Cruises
Saga are a line where only a select group of people can cruise with as they offer their service to those who are aged 50 or over.
There whole service is tailer to the over 50s, from the itineraries to the activities, which their modern fleet of ships sailing out of Southampton to the Med, Norway and the Canaries.

Fred Olsen Cruise Line
Fred Olsen maybe Norwegian owned but they are headquartered out of Ipswich in Suffolk and their fleet of ships are based out of the United Kingdom.
They use a range of ports all around theses isles, so they make a great option for those wanting a more traditional getaway and who want to sail from a port near them.

Ambassador Cruise Line
Ambassadors bring a UK holiday park style holiday to high seas with a small fleet of ships all based out of the United Kingdom.
The lines purple and green ships are always easy to recognise and whist the line are relatively new, having been established in 2021, they have already built a reputation for been cruisers local line in the UK.
That is because they homeport at different ports across England and Scotland to allow holidaymakers to set off from often overlooked ports such as Dundee, Newcastle, Liverpool and Tilbury.

Star Clippers

Scenic are an expedition cruise line and tour company headquarters in Manchester that started life as a river cruise specialists.
Since then, they have developed into a company operating across the globe and since 2019, they have operated a small fleet of luxury cruse yachts that give those with the budget to do so, a luxury getaway.
