There is a lot that goes into making a cruise holiday enjoyable and if a line can match your expectation in most of those areas, they will more than likely be the line of choice for you.
The problem that cruise lines and cruisers have is that it is all subjective and what makes a cruise line the perfect one for you could make them one to avoid for somebody else.
With that in mind, this list of where we feel Celebrity cruises excel is just our opinion and others who have sailed may have found the opposite to what we did but if the points below are important to you, the chances are that a cruise with Celebrity should be one to look at.

Fantastic Itineraries
For us a cruise is all about the destinations on offer and that is somewhere that Celebrity excels.
Far too many lines take the easy options and simply head to the same destination such as the Norwegian Fjords, the Mediterranean and the Caribbean and whilst they are well worth a visit, there is just so much more worth exploring on this great planet of ours.
Celebrity do of course cover those regions, but you can also head far and wide to regions such as South America, Australasia, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East and you even explore the breath-taking Galapagos Islands with them.
Great Ships
Celebrity cruise ships are always easy to recognise thanks to their blue and white colour scheme and the giant X (C in Greek) that adorns the funnel, but it is what is on the inside that really counts.
The line offers a wide range of ships and classes, from their oldest and smallest ships that were launched in 2000 and are around 91,000 gross tonnage to their ground-breaking Edge class ships that are around 130,000 gross tonnage- there is somebody for everybody.
That’s not even taking into account their expedition class ships that start at just under 3,000 gross tonnage but no matter if you prefer a bigger all singing and dancing new ship or a small older ship, you can be assured of the same high quality facilities onboard with all ships under going full makeovers over the past few years.
Smart Not Pretentious
Formal nights are always a polarising aspect of a cruise, with some cruisers loving them and some hating them but for us, Celebrity have got the balance just right with their ‘Chic nights’ where you are recommended to simply dress up for you.
With some lines still clinging onto the past and expecting black tie whilst making huge cost saving cuts across the board to make you feel out of place, its great to see a line putting their customers first.
Mouth Watering Food, Even In The Buffet
On some of the more budget cruise lines, the food in the buffet can be over-cooked, cold and less than appealing to the eye but that has never been the case with Celebrity from our experience.
In fact, it is hard to call the lines Oceanview Café a buffet in the traditional sense as so much of the food is freshly cooked or calves in front of your whilst you wait.
As well as the regular breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings, Celebrity also offers sandwiches, cakes and scones in the afternoon to make your own Afternoon Tea and they keep out left over snack from dinner until very late for any midnight munchies.
Café El Bacio
Whilst having an onboard café isn’t unique to Celebrity, the set up offered in the Café El Bacio is just the right balance for us.
Most drinks are included on a basic drinks package, the cakes and snacks are free for all onboard and the service is a match for any onshore tearoom with traditional China teapots and cups.
Best of all is the entertainment that takes place in there with a pianist, violinists and laid-back singers all offered on our last cruise to give the perfect backdrop to tea and cake.
Entertainment Here, There and Everywhere
One thing that we love about been onboard a cruise ship is being able to enjoy a wide variety of entertainment and that is something the line really do put a lot of effort into.
From the singers and musicians in the atrium to the fun and games offered by the entertainment staff and the comedians, perfromers and dancers in the main theatre- Celebrity offer constant entertainment throughout the ship and in a time when others are cutting back.
Quality Over Quantity
Everything about the line is about quality over quantity and offering great value for your hard-earned money.
There ships offer a decent passenger to staff and passenger to space ratios, there food is of a high standard by mainstream line standards and their ships are either modern or refurbished to a high standard.
One aspect that just about sums them up is the lines Hideaway space that is just a great place to relax and enjoy reading a book but on other lines it would be soon filled with cabins or an added extra cost activity.
Yes, some lines are cheaper, but their quality is much less, and some lines are more luxurious, but they cost is much higher, so for us, Celebrity have just about hit the sweet spot.
No Mis-Leading Advertising
Whilst it is a big problem in many industries nowadays, advertising promising big discounts or free extras that are neither discounted or free is something that is almost expected by some of the lines we have cruised on or that we have looked to book a getaway with.
Thankfully, to date, this is something that hasn’t been too much of an issue with Celebrity and lets hope it stays that way.
A Place For Noise, A Place For Quiet
Some cruise ships/lines are all action, and some are laid back with not much on offer but for our trips with them, Celebrity have got the balanced just about perfect.
There has always been lots of entertainment around the ship and a good choice of fun and games for those wanting to take part but there are also places to simply sit, relax and enjoy the quiet including Hideaway area and the library.

Just about every cruise line has an app to help your holiday, although some hinder more than help in our opinion.
Celebrities allows you to do lots of pre-cruise cruise planning including looking at menu for food and drink and look at excursions and you can see what entertainment is happening onboard and add it into your calendar, so you never miss a show.
